Vermont Disaster Relief Fund

While this fund is not managed by the Community Foundation, it is the primary fund for long-term recovery in Vermont. Too often, long-term support after disasters is not adequate.

  • The Vermont Disaster Relief Fund is designed to help meet the long-term needs of individuals. Allocations are made by the Vermont Long-Term Disaster Recovery Group, a nonprofit created after Irene to coordinate long-term recovery efforts throughout the state, bringing together the efforts of local and regional disaster recovery groups.
  • The fund will provide assistance to individuals and families, and all donations will benefit these people. Administrative costs for the fund are being covered through grants and partner contributions.

Vermont Farm Disaster Relief Fund

Established in partnership with the Vermont Agency of Agriculture in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene, this fund will:

  • Provide grant support to farms that have sustained losses in the wake of Tropical Storm Irene.
  • Click on the Give Now button to the left to donate. VCF fundholders can make a grant recommendation on DonorCentral. 100% of donations (with the exception of 3rd party vendor fees) will support farmers.
  • The Community Foundation will continue working with our partners on developing additional ways to help those in need.

Vermont Red Cross Response Fund

Established in partnership with The Orvis Company in the wake of Tropical Storm Irene, this fund will:

  • Provide immediate support for Red Cross Tropical Storm Irene relief efforts in Vermont.
  • Provide ongoing support for Red Cross preparedness programs and future disaster response in Vermont.

The Mobile Home Project Fund

This fund was established by the Community Foundation to support CVOEO’s Mobile Home Program in their efforts to assist residents of mobile home parks whose homes were destroyed by Tropical Storm Irene. To date $320,803 has been raised by the overall program, which has directly funded the removal of 68 mobile homes. CVOEO will continue to assist mobile home park residents affected by Irene until all of the money raised has been granted out. The fund is no longer accepting contributions, but we encourage you to support any of the funds we recommend. You can also find a list of local funds noted on our List of Resources. 

Special and Urgent Needs Fund: Irene Recovery

This fund was established by the Community Foundation to support nonprofit organizations in the communities hardest hit by the storm. To date $420,055 has been raised, with 70 grants awarded totaling $351,920. We will continue to make grants until all of the money raised has been granted out. The fund is no longer accepting contributions, but we encourage you to support any of the funds we recommend. You can also find a list of local funds noted on our List of Resources.
